Questions

What is ads.txt?
Ads.txt is a plain text file at the root of your domain listing every company authorised to sell your ad inventory. Buyers crawl it before bidding. If a seller is not listed, buyers can treat that inventory as unauthorised and refuse to buy it, so an incomplete file costs revenue directly.
What is the difference between DIRECT and RESELLER?
DIRECT means you have a contract with that exchange and they pay you. RESELLER means an authorised partner resells your inventory through that exchange on your behalf. Declaring a reseller path as DIRECT is a common and damaging mistake — buyers verify the claim against the exchange sellers.json.
What is the certification authority ID at the end of each line?
It is the exchange TAG-ID, a hexadecimal identifier for the certification authority. It is optional but recommended, and buyers use it as an extra check that the record refers to the exchange you meant.
How often should I update ads.txt?
Whenever you add or remove a demand partner, and review it at least quarterly. Stale entries for partners you no longer work with widen your authorised seller list for no revenue, which is exactly the surface arbitrage schemes use.

Rather not maintain it?

We keep ads.txt, sellers.json and the whole demand stack correct for the publishers we run.
